Zwischenwerk VIIIb (Marienburg), northeast of Konrad-Adenauer-Straße; 1876-1878: built, minor demolition work, according to Encke's memorandum (p.65): >>If the type of demolition allows, the impression of the old fortification should be preserved as much as possible here. ... This place is suitable for a smaller restaurant. Adenauer planned a restaurant facility here for the >recreational area<<; around 1926: garden design by Fritz Encke; 1927: execution with changes by Theodor Nußbaum, post-war use by the Parks Department; since 1985: sculpture park in the outer areas; otherwise today: club rooms of CRIFA; the best preserved work in the outer fortress belt, only the caponiers at the shoulder points have been demolished, the staircase built in the 1920s runs on and over the gorge caponier, roof garden-like ornamental garden on the ground level newly terraced in 1927 above the intermediate work with its preserved, wall-enclosed face and front ditch.
