The first documented mention of Donndorf Monastery dates back to 1308. It was founded as a Cistercian abbey for nuns and was dedicated to Saints Peter, Paul, and Lawrence. The monastery existed until its dissolution and secularization in 1541, in the course of the Reformation.

Donndorf Monastery is situated in the eponymous district of the municipality of Roßleben-Wiehe in Thuringia, Germany. It lies at an elevation of approximately 171 meters above sea level, nestled within the Kyffhäuser landscape.
