Weißfrauenkloster (auch Neumünster oder Maria-Magdalena-Kloster)

The monastery was founded in 1252 for the Magdalenians, an order dedicated to repentance and monastic life. In 1291, there was a transition to the Cistercian Order, placing the monastery under the supervision of Eberbach Abbey. This affiliation subsequently determined its spiritual and organizational direction. The monastery existed until its dissolution in 1802, at which point 17 nuns still resided there. The monastery church was dismantled in 1812. The guesthouse, built in 1718, is the last remaining architectural testament to the former monastery and is now owned by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The former Weißfrauenkloster was located in the city of Mainz in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Its precise location is at today's Schillerplatz in the city center.

Of the original monastery complex, only the former guesthouse from 1718 remains today. This building is used by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce. A memorial plaque commemorates the historical significance of the site.
