White Castle Nordheim
The White or Old Castle of the Lords von der Thann was built in 1577 and is directly adjacent to the fortified church. In 1640, the castle burned down in the Thirty Years' War and was rebuilt between 1651-68. In 1810, ownership passed into private hands.
On a stone tablet at the White Castle it says
"1577 THESE TWO SPOUSES BUILT THIS HOUSE AS FAR AS THE CELLAR GOES"
and
"Have begun to rebuild this house and all adjacent buildings, which were laid to ashes in the 30 Years' War on Friday after Pentecost in 1640, along with the entire village, in 1651 with God's help, and successfully completed in 1668. "The name of our Lord Jesus is a strong castle". The chronostichon indicates the year 1668.
