Mariahof Church

The parish church was first mentioned in a document in 1066 as "ecclesia Grazluppa". In 1103, it was assigned to the Benedictine Abbey of Sankt Lambrecht. The church building, newly erected in the 14th century, was renewed in the late Gothic style and converted into a fortified complex by Johann III, Abbot of St. Lambrecht, between 1482 and 1511, after its destruction by the Hungarians.

The rectory was converted into one of the largest fortified churches in Styria in the 15th and 16th centuries. It was fortified by high defensive walls with battlements, has a horseshoe-shaped floor plan, and consists of several irregular late Gothic buildings that have hardly been altered. The nave was baroqueized between 1679 and 1681.
