Rotturm Fortress

After the warlike conflicts in the second half of the 13th century and the further development of defense technology, the city fortifications on the west side were expanded towards the end of the 13th century.

In the course of this expansion, an advanced tower was initially erected. In the 14th century, the defensive complex was reinforced with additional towers.

This bulwark-like overall complex then consisted of four defensive towers, incorporating the city wall that had been moved uphill from the valley floor. In the 15th century, the ring walls were subsequently raised with embrasures.

Today, three towers are still partially preserved. One tower has been converted and houses a seminar center.
