The convent was established in 1412 through the initiative of Katharina Pfinzing, an abbess of the Poor Clares. It served as a spiritual home for the Franciscan Observant Tertiaries. During the Reformation, the convent was dissolved. Following its dissolution, the former convent church was repurposed as a Protestant Reformed place of worship, while the remaining convent buildings were converted into private residences.
