Palais Werdensleben
The City Palace of Werdensleben is a listed building in Staßfurt, Saxony-Anhalt.
Located at Steinstraße 20, the building houses the Theatercafé on the ground floor and the so-called Tilly Hall on the upper floor, featuring a remarkable Renaissance ceiling, where cultural events are held today. In the Tilly Hall, the mayor of Staßfurt prevented his city from being "Magdeburgized" on May 25, 1631, shortly after the destruction of Magdeburg by Tilly's and Pappenheim's troops. Until about 2005, the city council of Staßfurt regularly met there.
The palace was built around 1570/90. In 1709, it was rebuilt by Staßfurt mayor Bernhard von Werdensleben. Above the entrance door of the wide, two-story plastered building are the coats of arms of the von Biedersee and von Schladen families.
