Der Fangelturm in Malchin+

The Fangelturm in Malchin is a defensive tower of the city wall that surrounded the city. Due to its height and the city's border location with Pomerania, it served as a watchtower. It dates from the 15th century and was supplemented with a Renaissance gable in the second half of the 16th century. The building is a six-story brick structure with a gabled roof. The tower is approximately 35 meters high and was fundamentally renovated in 1996. It received its name from its former use as a prison (Fangelturm).
