Iphofen Town Fortification
The completely preserved medieval city fortifications were built from 1293 to 1349 under the direction of the Jewish master builder Michelmann. In a second construction phase from 1421, the older Hohenlohe moat quarter was also included in the fortifications.
The four city gates
- Rödelseer Tor (mentioned 1422), double gate tower, landmark of the city
- Einersheimer Tor, double gate tower, documented from 1451, eastern city entrance
- Mainbernheimer Tor (built 1533-1548), also Spitaltor or outer Gräbentor
- Pesttor (built 1455–1466), through which plague victims were brought to the cemetery outside the city, impassable because walled up since 1596

- Mittagsturm: prison for "criminals"
- Bürgerturm, the former prison for citizens
- Henkerturm, executioner's residence
- Eulenturm, former watchtower
