Construction of the City Wall
After Emperor Sigismund granted city rights in 1434, the city wall was built. In 1434, the lower gate was erected. The Main Gate was built from 1510 to 1520. In 1560, the White Tower was erected. In 1562, the upper gate was erected. In 1573, the Kere Tower was erected, which was donated by Provost Richard von der Kere. In 1580, the construction of the city wall was considered complete. In 1876, the uppermost story of the upper and lower gates was removed.
