St. Remigius (Häfnerhaslach)

The existence of St. Remigius Monastery is documented from the 14th century, although the exact founding date is not clearly established. In 1556, the monastery was dissolved and secularized as part of the Reformation. Parts of the choir tower, whose lower floors date from the Middle Ages, are still preserved from the original monastic complex. The choir room on the ground floor of the tower was fitted with a cross-ribbed vault around 1420 and features frescoes depicting the symbols of the four Evangelists from the same period.

The former monastery is situated in Häfnerhaslach, a district of the town of Sachsenheim in the Ludwigsburg district, Baden-Württemberg. The complex is located at an elevation of approximately 314 meters above sea level.

Today's evangelical parish church of St. Remigius utilizes the historic buildings. The nave was newly constructed in 1767 and extended to the south. The choir tower was raised by a half-timbered storey in the 16th century, which houses a clock and the belfry containing a bell from 1431. The tower is topped with a pyramidal roof.
