St. Magnus (Kühbach)

The monastery of St. Magnus was likely founded before 1011 and was dedicated to Saint Magnus of Füssen, with an initial dedication also to Mary. The earliest construction phases of the church date back to around 1160, evidenced by the lower sections of the towers. Following a devastating fire in 1577, the church was rebuilt in the Gothic style. Its current Baroque appearance was achieved between 1687 and 1688 by master builder Giovanni Androi, who incorporated elements from the previous structure. The consecration of the church took place in 1689, followed by the raising of the tower the subsequent year. The monastic complex was dissolved in 1803 during the secularization.

The former monastery church of St. Magnus is situated in Kühbach, a municipality within the Bavarian district of Aichach-Friedberg in Germany.

Today, the Catholic parish church of St. Magnus is protected as an architectural monument and continues to serve as the religious center for the community. Its Baroque facade and rich interior bear witness to the site's long and eventful history.
