St. Anne's Church

The need for a new church in Krefeld arose in the 19th century due to significant population growth. Initially established as a rectory within the Liebfrauen parish, St. Anna was constructed between 1901 and 1903. The church board of the Liebfrauen parish decided in 1898 to build in Inrath, and a plot of land was donated by the Innungsbank. Architect Josef Kleesattel's plans were approved in 1900, and the groundbreaking took place on March 21, 1901. The solemn laying of the foundation stone occurred on June 29, 1901. By 1903, the church was completed and consecrated. Its elevation to an independent parish took place on October 9, 1905. During World War II, St. Anna suffered severe damage in an air raid on June 22, 1943, with roofs burning out and parts of the vaults collapsing. On January 1, 2014, the St. Anna parish merged with other communities to form the new Holy Trinity Parish.

The church building is situated in the Inrath district, north of Krefeld's city center. It is bordered by Inrather Straße, An der Annakirche, Joachimstraße, and Blumentalstraße (Federal Highway 9 / Federal Highway 509).

Today, St. Anna functions as the parish church of the Holy Trinity Parish Krefeld and is a registered architectural monument in North Rhine-Westphalia.
