Czernina Castle
The castle ruin of Czernina, once a significant structure, rises in the village of the same name in Lower Silesia, Poland. Its history dates back to the 14th century and bears witness to a turbulent past under various noble families.
History+
The origins of the complex lie in a 14th-century castle, which was owned by Johannes von Czernina. In 1492, ownership passed to the Lords of Dohna, followed by the Lords of Stosch in 1538. Abraham von Stosch renovated the castle in the late 17th century. As he died childless, the estate fell to his eldest sister Hedwig Helena. After her death in 1703, the von Lestwitz family took over the property. Further changes of ownership followed, including Melchior Adam, George Abraham, and Karl Rudolf, who died childless in 1803.
