The Schlosspalais was built in 1843 for Prince Otto Viktor I von Schönburg-Waldenburg on the site of an outwork near Lichtenstein Castle. For this purpose, the existing outwork was demolished in 1839. In 1888, it was converted into a widow's residence. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. After this, the Palais served as an apartment building. In 2000-01, the Palais was renovated. Today it serves as the Daetz-Centrum with a permanent exhibition of the largest private collection of wooden sculptures.
