Ziegelberg Castle

Ziegelberg Castle was built in 1878 as a residence for the Edmund von Boch family. The property was sold to the municipality of Mettlach in 1939 and used as a children's holiday home. In 1977, after extensive renovation, it became home to the Mettlach Ceramics Museum. The ground floor and first floor were restored to their current, almost original condition. Restaurant rooms were set up in the castle cellar, which Rita and Stefan Müller leased in 1990. Since 2004, the impressive rooms on the ground floor have also been used as a restaurant, as the Ceramics Museum has since been relocated to the former Benedictine abbey.
