The first documented mention of the Wulften estate dates back to 1147. At that time, it was probably the seat of the Osnabrück family Wulvena. After frequent changes of ownership, the castle was bought by the city of Osnabrück in 1929. Until 1936, it housed the one-class Catholic school. After severe damage during the Second World War, the castle fell into disrepair and was rebuilt and renovated in 1962 by the merchant Emil Krone. Today, the building comprises 20 apartments and a shop for English antiques.
