Today's castle was built in 1294 as an Augustinian monastery by the mendicant order of the Augustinian Hermits. In the Middle Ages, twelve monks lived in the monastery. In 1803, after the transition to Württemberg, the monastery was dissolved and the monastery church demolished. Today, the parish office, the city archive, and various associations are housed here.
