Warsberg Castle (Saarburg)
The Haus Warsberg in Saarburg stands on the site of the former Burgmannenhaus of the von der Leyen family from the 14th century. In 1557, Archbishop and Elector Johann VI. von der Leyen transferred the building to the von Warsberg family. For nine generations, the von Warsberg family served in Trier and later in Prussian service.
In 1847, the Saarburg District Office first rented office space as a "District Local" in the Warsberghaus. In 1865, the district acquired the southeastern wing of the building as the District Administrator's residence, and in 1903, the remaining building complex. From 1900, the conversion to the District Office took place according to plans by district architect Karl Flacke.
After the dissolution of the Saarburg district, the Warsberghaus became the seat of the Saarburg Verbandsgemeinde administration in 1971.
