Schloss Walda+
Die Geschichte von Schloss Walda+
Herrensitz Walda
Walda is located directly next to Zabeltitz near Großenhain. A manor house existed here since the 13th century, whose owners changed constantly in the following period. On the site of the present building, a moated castle already existed in the 16th century, which stood on a rectangular walled island in the castle pond. After the moated castle burned down in 1866, the manor house was rebuilt by the then bourgeois owner Krüger. The successor building was erected on the foundations of the old moated castle. It is modeled after the style of the Italian Renaissance. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. The moats were filled in after 1945. A children's home was established in the property, which is still located in the castle today.
