Voswinckelshof Castle

The Voswinckelshof dates back to the 13th century. It was one of four noble residences in the city. In 1527, the owners concluded a contract with the city of Dinslaken, which allowed them to demolish a section of the city wall on their property in order to erect a new building outside the course of the city wall. The current building, probably erected at the end of the 18th century, stands on the foundations of a predecessor building that was built in 1527. Before the First World War, the Voswinckelshof was a children's convalescent home. Since 1955, it has housed the city's historical "Museum Voswinckelshof". It was reopened in 1999 after extensive renovation and has since offered a diverse exhibition and event program.
