Vanås Castle

Castle Vanas (also Wanås) is a castle near Knislinge, in Östra Göinge community.
The oldest parts of the castle date back to 1400. 1440 is Eskil Åkesson mentioned as the owner. Later moved the property to the family Brahe. 1525 bought Claus Bille the castle. In the seven-year Nordic war 1563 – 1570 was the palace looted and burned. Sten Bille restored the building in 1566. 1756 Carl Axel Hugo Hamilton (born 1722, died 1763) acquired the castle. The present castle was built around 1900. Current owner is Count Carl-Gustaf sergeant.
