Vagen Castle

The castle was built in 1768 by Anton Vogt, who had bought half of the Vagen Hofmark as Rheinstein-Tattenbach's county administrator of Valley and tenant of the brewery. In the large castle garden, he created water cascades with the help of the Goldbach stream. In the 1870s, the castle was significantly expanded by Count Heinrich von Boos-Waldeck. The castle is completely preserved and inhabited in this state.
In 1995, a comprehensive renovation was carried out by the owner Karl Michael Freiherr von Aretin. Since then, the castle has been considered a landmark in Vagen. Since 2005, the exterior shots for the ARD telenovela Sturm der Liebe have been filmed at Vagen Castle. Due to the filming at the outdoor location, the area is closed to the public.
