Early Mentions and Changes of Ownership+
The castle was first mentioned in 1146 as a royal fief. Around 1304, ownership transferred to Timo von Knöringen. In 1508, the castle and its property became a Brandenburg fief. In 1675, ownership transferred to the Lords of Rehlingen. On July 16, 1751, ownership transferred to Johann Christoph Freiherr von Freyberg-Eisenberg. In 1778, the castle and property became an Austrian fief – in 1809 a Bavarian fief.
Recent Developments+
In 1994, the old carriage house burned down and was rebuilt in the old style. In 2003, the castle, carriage house, and park were renovated.
