Unterdießen Castle

Unterdießen Castle is a castle complex built in the 16th century on an old moraine ridge above the village in the Upper Bavarian municipality of Unterdießen in the district of Landsberg am Lech.

The complex, located at today's Schlossberg 18, is a gabled building with four corner towers and was built as the first fortress by the Welfs on the remains of a Roman refuge castle. After a fire in 1589, the Freybergers rebuilt the castle in its current form.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the castle, in need of renovation, was sold to an Augsburg resident and has since been fundamentally renovated and restored, preserving its historic building fabric.
