Uebelgönne Castle (Daseburg)

In the 16th century, the exact date is disputed, the various branches of the von Spiegel family left their ancestral seat on the Desenberg and settled on the newly established estates of Burg Bühne, Klingenburg, Rothenburg and Übelngönne in the plain. The different lines of the Spiegel zum Desenberg family named themselves after these houses. In 1588, it was stipulated that the four lines should inherit from each other in the event of extinction in the male line. Until the 20th century, the estates remained in the possession of members of this noble family. The services of the Spiegel subjects from Daseburg and the other villages were essential for the economic existence of the businesses. In addition, day laborers were employed alongside their own servants.

Übelngönne was acquired by the Warburg district in 1929. Two larger agricultural businesses and a number of part-time businesses were formed from Übelngönne; the remaining estate was acquired by the previous tenant, the Warburg coal merchant Kroll. The Kroll family still manages it today.
