Tümpling Castle

Tümpling Castle

To be privately owned

Tümping Castle is located in the Tümping district of the town of Dornburg-Camburg in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia.

The castle, situated on a spur-like hill east of the Saale river, features cellars that were suitable for defense. In addition, the castle is surrounded by a garden and park. It is assumed that it was formerly a fortified manor house of the von Tümping family. The lineage is traceable as castellans of Camburg Castle as early as 1300. The Lords of Tümping appear several times in Jena documents from the 14th century onwards.

In 1945, the von Tümping family was dispossessed and expelled by the communists.

After the Fall of the Wall+

In 1993, the castle was acquired by descendants of the Tümpings, and reconstruction began immediately.
