Trunkelsberg Castle

Trunkelsberg Castle was first mentioned in 1657. The town of Trunkelsberg near Memmingen in today's Unterallgäu district in Upper Swabia belonged to the Lordship of Eisenburg from the Staufer period until 1655.

The first mention in 1657 was due to a renovation and new construction of the castle by the Memmingen patrician Wachter. The patrician family Wachter sold the castle in 1697. This was followed by frequent changes of ownership. The stately saddle roof building dates back to the 16th century at its core. The stepped gable, which the castle possesses today, dates from the early 19th century. On the ground floor there is a room with a cross-ribbed vault. On the upper floor there are door frames with ears and entablature crowns and a room with curved frame stucco on the ceiling.

The castle is located within an approximately three-hectare plot of land with old trees and lies on the southeastern edge of the village near the church of the independent municipality of Trunkelsberg. Today, the castle is already in the third generation of ownership by the von Heuß-Blößt family.
