Tistad Castle
Tistad Castle is an impressive historical structure in the Swedish province of Södermanland. The estate, which is now privately owned, captivates with its long history and its architectural design in the Italian style.
History+
Tistad is first mentioned in the 16th century, when it was owned by Åke Johansson Bååt, who also possessed estates in Tidö and Eknaholm. His daughter Kerstin Åkesdotter Bååt was married to Bengt Jöransson Sparre and had a daughter named Beata. From this line came Baron Schering Rosenhane, who inherited Tistad in 1651. After his death, the property passed to his son Johan and later to his nephew Schering Fredrikson Rosenhane. The construction of the current castle in the Italian style took place between 1766 and 1771 under Baron Frederick Bengt Rosenhane. After his death in 1800, the property was transferred via his children Schering and Sophia Eleonora to Fabian Ulfsparre, before Count Gustav Wachtmeister acquired it in 1812.
