History+
The castle was built by the Eggenberg family starting in 1583, came into the possession of the Counts Leslie in 1727, and into the possession of the Counts Attems in 1804. From 1852, the castle was used as a barracks and was converted accordingly. Restored in 1959.
Architecture+
The castle is three-storied, built around a rectangular inner courtyard. In 1854 (date on the gable), it was converted in the Neo-Gothic style of the Franziskanisch-Josephinische cadet academies. Towards the street, there are tower-like corner risalits with battlements. The rusticated portal to the church dates from the end of the 16th century. In the west wing, there is a coat of arms stone with a building inscription of the Eggenberg family from 1583.
