Stolpe Castle

Children's home

Stolpe Castle was built between 1545 and 1553 by the von Buch family. Around 1750, the side wings were added. After a fire in the main wing in 1917, the building had to be rebuilt in 1921/22. The former Baroque garden was converted into a landscape park around 1845 by the then owners, incorporating the medieval castle complex, according to plans by P.J. Lenné. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. After this, the castle served as a reformatory.
