Stibichhofen Castle

Stibichhofen Castle dates from the end of the 15th century and was owned by the Barons of Stübich until 1637, and from 1674 by the poet and plague doctor Adam von Lebenwaldt. The rectangular building with its two corner towers is Gothic in its core and was converted to its present appearance in the 17th century. Transom grilles from the 17th century and several Gothic windows, in the hall on the ground floor three iron doors in Gothic doorframes. From 1886, Hans von Rebenburg was the castle owner. The Rebenburggasse is named after him. His nephew and heir Alexander Kyd-Rebenburg sold the castle in 1953 to the Evangelical Parish. They use Stibichhofen Castle as a pastoral center, prayer hall, and youth hostel. Since 1976, the exhibition rooms of the Trofaiach City Museum have been located on the ground floor.
