Spaur Castle

To be privately owned

Spaur Castle is located in the municipality of Thalgau in the Flachgau district of the federal state of Salzburg. The house no. 27 (old numbering) in Thalgau is referred to as Spaur Castle; according to another source, however, this is said to be house no. 112 in Thalgau.

This refers to the "dwelling and iron hammer mill" with manor house, which was owned by Vlrich Kirchpuchler around 1400. In 1669, the Tanzperger family followed, from 1730 the merchants Poschinger, and in 1829 Ludwig Count von Dennhof, married to Antonia Countess von Thurn und Taxis. In 1855, Josef and Anna Zeller followed, in 1871 Anna von Imhof, until Philipp Count von Spauer acquired the property in 1879.
