Schönstadt Castle
Schönstadt Castle is located near the Schönstadt district of the municipality of Cölbe in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district in Hesse.
The complex was built on the site of a 13th-century moated castle (first mentioned in 1344) with a manor house as a two-story, seven-axis building with a mansard roof and a late Gothic octagonal tower. This was followed by another octagonal tower and an extension around 1600, a new building in 1618, and a reconstruction in the mid-18th century.
The former owners are named as the Lords Milchling von Schönstadt. The castle is currently owned by the von Bethmann family.
