Schermcke Castle

A castle is already mentioned in the 12th century. In 1373, ownership passed to the von der Asseburg family. In 1511, a new four-winged castle was built. In 1720, the castle became a Prussian domain. In 1900, ownership changed to Ernst Wrede, who built a two-story palace on the walls of the old castle in 1902. In 1945, the owners were forcibly dispossessed and expelled by the communists. Thereafter, the palace temporarily served as the seat of the people's estate, as a kindergarten, community nurse station, and community office, as well as for residential purposes. The building is privately owned and reveals little of its former splendor.
