Scherbenhof Castle (Weinfelden)

The castle was a fief of the Barons of Bussnang in the 14th century, called "Bogenstein". In 1630, ownership changed to Jakob Scherb, and from 1665-1814 it was St. Gallish. In the 19th century, the castle passed into the possession of the Reinhart family. The main building burned down in 1889 and was rebuilt.

In the house "Scherbenhof" in Weinfelden, the residence of Government Councillor Johann Joachim Reinhart, the "Gesellschaft zum Werkhof" with its seat in Winterthur was founded on July 8, 1820. Already on September 28, 1820, the lodge rooms were furnished, and on December 8, the request for constitution was signed and submitted to the Directorate of the Scottish Rectified Order in Zurich. On January 8, 1821, the written assurance arrived in Winterthur, allowing the new lodge, named AKAZIA, to be called perfect and just.
