To be privately owned

A castle is already mentioned in 1078 as being in the possession of Ezzo de Sandolfeshusen. The castle was built in 1390. Further owners included the Lords of Zangberg (1485-1499), the Lords of Rohrbach (1499-1639), the Prince-Bishopric of Freising (1639-1653), the Lords of Reisach (1653-1759), the Barons of Käppler (1759-1774), Baron von Wadenspann (1774-96), Countess Franziska von Buttler (1798-1818) and, since 1892, the Wimmer family.

The castle was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War and subsequently rebuilt. In 1690 it burned down, followed by a new construction. The current castle was built on the walls of the old castle in 1750-60.
