Rosenburg Castle
Rosenburg Castle is a castle complex above Riedenburg in the Lower Bavarian district of Kelheim, Germany. The castle, built on a mountain ridge, is located in the Altmühl Valley and thus in the Altmühltal Nature Park.
The castle was built in the 12th century as the ancestral seat of the Counts of Riedenburg. Several extensions and renovations followed in the subsequent centuries.
Even the former lords of the castle had a fondness for falconry. The Falconry Center, founded in 1978, continues this tradition. The birds of prey can be observed during flight demonstrations.
Rosenburg Castle also houses a castle museum dedicated to the history of the castle, its former lords, falconry, and the local wildlife.
