Rorgenwies Castle

The castle of the Lords Gagg von Löwenberg burned down in 1870 and was subsequently rebuilt.

The first mention of a manor house in this location dates back to the 13th century. Over the centuries, the building underwent numerous changes and expansions. It served as the residence of various noble families, including the Gagg von Löwenberg family, who acquired the property in the 16th century.

The devastating fire of 1870 destroyed large parts of the castle. However, the then owner, Baron Gagg von Löwenberg, decided to rebuild the castle in its historic form. The reconstruction was completed in 1875 and largely corresponds to the appearance of the castle today.

The manor house is an impressive example of historicist architecture, combining elements of various styles. The main building is characterized by its stately facade, adorned with numerous decorative elements and bay windows. The castle complex also includes a picturesque inner courtyard and a well-maintained park.

Particularly noteworthy are the richly decorated interiors, which have been preserved in their original condition in many areas. These include the grand ballroom, the knight's hall, and several salons, which are furnished with antique furniture and works of art.

Today, the manor house serves as a cultural and event center. It regularly hosts concerts, exhibitions, and other cultural events. Parts of the castle are also used as a museum, providing visitors with insights into the history of the building and its former inhabitants.

The castle park is open to the public and invites visitors to take relaxing strolls. It offers a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape and is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.

Future Plans

In the coming years, further renovation work is planned to preserve the manor house for future generations. These measures include the restoration of historical facades and the modernization of technical facilities. The aim is to maintain the castle as a vibrant cultural center and to make it accessible to an even wider audience.
