Rödelmaier Castle

After Rödelmaier was in the possession of the Knights of Brende in the 15th century, who, among other noble families, had a seat on the Salzburg, it largely came into the possession of the knightly families Voit von der Salzburg at the beginning of the 16th century and remained with a branch of the same for a full 300 years.

With the construction of today's "old castle" around the year 1560, a knight's estate was established in Rödelmaier. In addition to the much larger part that the Knights of Salzburg owned in Rödelmaier, the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg also had a number of "subjects" here. Likewise, the Maria Bildhausen monastery received some "revenues" from here.

In 1754, the brothers Philipp Ernst and Philipp Heinrich Freiherrn Voit von der Salzburg built the "new castle". Many owners followed the Voits on the knight's estate, some of whom acquired it by purchase, others managed it by lease.

Thus, in 1860, Adolf Kling from Saxony-Gotha acquired it. His sons sold it on September 4, 1917, to the agricultural central cooperative in Regensburg. In the years 1925/26, the "new castle" came into the possession of the Carmelite Order, in whose possession it still is today, and the "old castle" came into the possession of the municipality, which it serves as the town hall today. The fields were sold to the inhabitants of Rödelmaier and to the neighboring communities.
