Rodeck Castle

To be privately owned

Rodeck Castle, dating from the 11th to 13th centuries, initially belonged to the Lords of Röder. The current castle was built in 1879 on the foundations of the former fortress. With the help of architect Kessler, the then owner, Chief Appellate Court Councillor Heinrich Friedrich Schliephacke (* 1839 in Roklum; † 1911 at Rodeck Castle) and his wife Marie Therese, née Heyne-Hedersleben (* 1846 at Klostergut Hedersleben; † 1890 at Rodeck Castle), had the castle rebuilt in the Neo-Renaissance style. After the Schliephacke family sold the castle following the turmoil of inflation, ownership changed frequently until it was used as a nursing home by the district after the war. Today it is privately owned.
