Reinleiten Castle
Reinleiten Castle is located in the city of Grieskirchen in Upper Austria.
Before the construction of this noble seat, there was a farm here; in 1592, a Röringer in der Leiten is mentioned as the owner. The noble seat was built by the Pollheimers of Parz. In 1651, Count Adrian Ankevoirt sold the castle to Count David von Weißenwolff. In 1720, the small castle was elevated to a noble residence.
The two-story castle formerly had a steep gabled roof and a tower protruding from the masonry with a hexagonal pyramid as its roof. Access to the castle was through this tower. The attic of the building was lit by ox-eye windows.
Reinleiten Castle Today+
Under the reign of Emperor Franz Josef I, the castle was converted into a hospital in 1912. The hospital is run by the Orders of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and the Franciscan Sisters of Vöcklabruck. Today, the former castle is used as an outbuilding.
