Rausdorf Castle
Rausdorf Castle is located in the municipality of Rausdorf in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia.
The castle developed from the Großbockedra outwork, which was first documented in 1378 and was managed by several owners over time. Before the Second World War, it belonged to the Morgenstern family. They already used it economically as a place for recreation and summer stays for guests from near and far.
From 1940+
In 1940, the Morgenstern family sold the property to the State of Berlin. After 1945, it was transferred by the GDR to the administration of the Stadtroda District Council. It was first used as an orphanage and later as a special children's home.
After the Fall of the Wall+
Until 1997, the castle continued to be used as a children's home. Since it was still owned by the State of Berlin, the property could not be sold for a long time. Unrealistic prices were the obstacle to a real sale, which has now probably taken place, as guests are wished "Welcome" to Rausdorf Castle.
