Primmersdorf Castle

Primmersdorf Castle is an irregular, one- to two-story four-wing complex, altered by renovations of its early Baroque core in the 18th and 19th centuries, surrounded by outbuildings and a park laid out around 1860. The predecessor building was first mentioned in a document in 1251; by 1567 it was desolate. The current castle was newly built in 1667. The four-winged main building, slightly shifted in angles and axes around the approximately rectangular courtyard, is covered by brick gabled roofs. In the middle of the west wing rises the originally three-story gate tower with Baroque window sills and transverse oval dormers, whose uppermost story in its current form with Romanesque rubble masonry was erected in 1929 under a tent roof. The center of the courtyard is occupied by a fountain with a water-spouting swan from the first half of the 19th century. The chapel of the south wing dates from 1724. Various outbuildings are located to the west and north of the castle. To the southwest is a three-story, Baroque granary. In the castle park, stone vases in the style of Johann Fischer von Erlach are preserved.
