Prießnitz Castle
Schloss Prießnitz+
In Prießnitz, the manor "Hof Prisneze" is mentioned in 977 as a gift from Emperor Otto I, owned by the Bishops of Merseburg. From 1380 to 1918, the castle and manor were owned by the von Einsiedel family. In 1605-06, the current castle was built on the walls of an old fortress. In 1918, ownership changed to the industrialist Fritz Vogel, who was dispossessed and expelled by the communists in 1945. After the war, the castle and estate were used as a school.
