Pichlarn Castle

Pichlarn Castle is a listed building in the Ennstal municipality of Aigen im Ennstal.
Pichlarn Castle was built in 1009. However, the first documented mention of this estate was not until 1074 under the names Püchlern and Pühelarn. Around 1150, the lord of the castle, Leo the Noble, bequeathed the entire estate of Püchlern or Pühelarn to the Benedictine Admont Abbey. For centuries, the estate served as a recreational residence for ecclesiastical dignitaries, including Pope Pius II. Since the 16th century, the castle has been characterized by frequent changes of ownership. In 1555, the Lords of Stainach had the two characteristic round towers built.
In the second half of the 20th century, the Schlosshotel Pichlarn was established in the castle, which also includes the Golf & Countryclub Schloss Pichlarn.
