Pagodenburg Castle
The Pagodenburg is a garden palace by Johann Michael Ludwig Rohrer from 1722 in Rastatt.
In 1722, Margravine Franziska Sibylla Augusta had a pavilion built in Rastatt by her court architect Johann Michael Ludwig Rohrer. The pavilion was built based on the model of the baroque pavilion in the Nymphenburg Garden in Munich, which the Margravine saw during a visit to Elector Max Emanuel. The pavilion has a diameter of 12 m and largely adheres to the Munich model, but the roof deviated from the original, and instead of a flat roof, a mansard roof was placed on the pavilion.
Franziska Sibylla Augusta used the pavilion, located in the middle of a garden, as a tea house. Today, the pavilion serves as an exhibition venue for local artists. These exhibitions are usually organized by the Rastatt Art Association.
