The castle was built around 1500. In 1950, the castle was blown up for ideological reasons. The outbuildings are preserved. Its origin goes back to an old water-fortified complex, of which a vaulted building, considered a chapel, is still preserved today in the economy area. It still features the baroque layout with Cour d'honneur, Cavalier's House and Gatehouse, as well as wing buildings and corner pavilions on a Spree island. After the Counts of Wallwitz were dispossessed in 1945, the castle island is now owned by the Lower Rhine family Dahmen-Wassenberg.
