Nieder Rengersdorf Castle

In 1517, an outwork was established from the Niederrengersdorf manor, which already had its own subjects by 1539 and is documented as the Oberrengersdorf manor in 1592. The resulting division of the village was to remain until the incorporation of both places. The castle in Niederrengersdorf also dates from the second half of the 16th century.
In 1770, master miller Johann Richter bought the Niederrengersdorf estate for 62,000 Taler as an agent for 56 farmers, gardeners, and cottagers. The village population managed the estate with its lands jointly and only divided it in 1842. After several changes of ownership, it was sold in 1881 to Edo von Schlicht. The last owner, Dr. Ebermann, was dispossessed in 1946. In 1948, the municipality took over the dilapidated castle and had it renovated to use it as a municipal office in the future. After renewed renovation measures between 1995 and 1999, it now serves the Kodersdorf municipal administration and for residential purposes.
